To commemorate the centenary anniversary Watches of Switzerland has collaborated with some of the brand partners that have contributed to the success of the retail business during its history to produce a series of exclusive timepieces. DOXA is an important part of the retail legacy, and it is the brand milestones and innovations that have inspired this latest launch. DOXA watches have an extraordinarily rich history, established in 1889, pioneered the first genuine professional diver's tool-watch available to the public in 1967—the now-iconic SUB 300.

Developed in close partnership with the renowned American sports diving organization, ‘US Divers,’ led by the legendary Commander Cousteau, the SUB 300 introduced groundbreaking innovations, quickly becoming the reference for military and professional divers alike. Consider the orange dial, which was unheard of at a time when the standard was either black or white. It was not a novelty but an innovation: after extensive testing, this particular hue of orange was chosen for its optimal visibility at 30 meters depth.

Another striking innovation: the new unidirectional bezel with a double indication for calculating dive time in relation to depth, thus ensuring a safe ascent without decompression stops. The bezel was grounded in the science behind the no-decompression dive table developed by the US Navy. The table enabled divers to determine their allowable time at a specific depth for a safe, continuous ascent – without having to pause for decompression. DOXA’s engineers succeeded in incorporating the US Navy’s parameters into two separate scales on the bezel, one for depth on the orange outer ring, the other for time (in minutes) on the black inner ring – earning DOXA a patent for this feature.

In 2024, DOXA Watches has introduced the SUB 200T skillfully retaining all the original SUB’s DNA while embracing modern style and sophistication with a smaller diameter. In reworking the spatial volumes inside the case to bring it down to an elegant 39 mm diameter and a more wearable thickness of 10.70 mm, DOXA has also tweaked the dial design to achieve a more contemporary visual presence on the wrist.

Crafted from premium 316L stainless steel, the SUB 200T is a 3-hand dive watch featuring DOXA’s famous patented unidirectional rotating bezel with its integrated US Navy no-decompression limit table, the benchmark for diver safety. A date display at 3 o'clock and a screw-down crown round off the taut package, which is water-resistant to 200 meters (approximately 660 feet) – perfect for venturing as deep as the seabed in complete safety. Protected by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, all diving-related indications have been slightly refined. Equipped with a Swiss automatic movement with exclusive DOXA decorations, beating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations/hour (4.0 Hz), the watch offers a comfortable power reserve of around 38 hours.

The Watches of Switzerland exclusive DOXA SUB 200T Seafoam will be available both in the UK and US showrooms and online from the 15th April.
